Understanding IRONSCALES Detection Settings

IRONSCALES has three detection sensitivity settings that control how aggressively emails are filtered. These are managed by Constant Edge on your behalf — contact us if you’d like anything adjusted.

Adaptive AI Spam Hygiene

IRONSCALES uses AI to identify spam senders across your organization’s mailboxes. When activated, it flags emails from unrecognised senders as potential spam. Legitimate senders can be allowlisted so their emails aren’t caught.

Level	Description
Relaxed	Only the most obvious spam is blocked. Best if you rarely encounter spam issues.
Balanced	Recommended. A smart default that balances detection accuracy with minimal disruption.
Aggressive	Catches more spam, including subtle or suspicious messages. May result in some legitimate emails being flagged.

IRONSCALES Community Sensitivity

IRONSCALES cross-checks incoming emails against reports from thousands of other organisations. If enough other companies have flagged the same email as malicious, an incident is created automatically.

Level	Description
Low	Requires more external organisations to report the email before an incident is created. Fewer incidents to review.
Medium	A moderate balance between detection and noise. Good for most organisations.
High	Fewer external reports needed to trigger an incident. Better for high-risk industries (finance, defense) but generates more incidents to review.

Account Takeover Sensitivity (Microsoft 365 only)

This setting monitors for signs of compromised accounts in your organization, such as unusual login activity or suspicious email behavior.

Level	Description
Relaxed	Only escalates incidents with strong account takeover indicators. Fewer false positives.
Balanced	Recommended. Balanced detection that catches strong suspicions while keeping false positives low.
Aggressive	Uses additional indicators and a lower threshold. More sensitive but may generate more false positives.
