What happens when a CloudAlly account is deleted?

Modified on Fri, May 22 at 4:57 AM

When a CloudAlly account is deleted, the data isn't removed immediately. CloudAlly retains it on the backend for 7 days, after which it is permanently deleted. This article explains what happens during the grace period, what disappears from your portal, and how to reactivate an account if needed.

The 7-day grace period

When an account is deleted in CloudAlly:

  • Data is retained on CloudAlly's backend for 7 days.
  • The account becomes inaccessible to users.
  • The account is removed from the active view in your CloudAlly portal.

If the account is not reactivated within 7 days, all backup data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Why the account disappears from your portal

This is expected behaviour. Once an account is deactivated or deleted, CloudAlly removes it from the active portal view. You will no longer be able to see the account in your portal, even though the data is still retained on the backend during the 7-day grace period.

If you can no longer see an account in your portal, it has been deactivated. The data may still be recoverable if you're within the 7-day grace period — contact CloudAlly support as soon as possible.

How to reactivate an account

Reactivation must be performed by CloudAlly's backend team.

Contact Constant Edge support

  1. Confirm the account is still within the 7-day grace period.
  2. Contact the Constant Edge support team with the account email and domain.
  3. We will action the request with CloudAlly on your behalf and confirm once access has been restored.

The CloudAlly subscription must be active for the account to be restored and used again.

Is there a cost to reactivate?

Reactivation itself is not a separate charge. However, an active CloudAlly subscription is required for the account to be restored and used again.

After the 7-day grace period

Once the 7-day grace period has passed, all backup data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
